REVIEW : Arihant New Single 'Why So Serious'

Today we have a 3 piece Technical Death Metal band on board who have managed to leave a mark on India Metal Scene. Well guys they are none other than our technical masters ARIHANT, hailing from North East India, and these bunch of guys consider their band name as destroyer of enemies as a sign of Brutality and Unforgiveness. Along with technical aspects on board, they also experiment a lot with their sound and have come up with their second single "Why So Serious" recently. After witnessing them LIVE at Strawberry Fields 2011, I am pretty much excited to review their new single.
Let me first start with the top notch production which indeed sound perfect. Right from the very first second we have crazy riffs all over the place. On top of that we have double bass patterns and blast beats nailed quite well. Vocals are damn good and you need to appreciate the variations in it. Right from growls to screeches the band has it all from the first second. Bass lines rumbling all over and guitar lines are absolutely insane.

Lyrically the song is about environmental related issues and the way its written is appreciable. The solo in the middle is kick ass and you got to appreciate the guitarist for having the passion to nail technical riff’s. Sadly the way I expected variation in technical riff’s one after another was missing. Drums to me sound programmed and the way it goes along with guitars is eclectic. The outro is another plus point of this song. Lyrics are quite interesting.

“Drought and flood with reason
A lesson we never learn
lets find a place for rest
but we can never hide”
One thing is noticed from them compared to other technical death metal bands from North East is how well they understand their sound and the way band concentrates on song structure and arrangements. They can work more and continue giving us insane stuff’s. This 3 piece band has immense potential and It was an honor to witness them live at Strawberry Fields 2011. I gotta say this song should justify more than two listens because of its catchy riff’s and elegant vocals.

Thumbs Up ARIHANT \m/
