With a name like ‘Crypt of the Devil’, you really can’t go wrong now, can you? Chris Barnes certainly seems to think so as he is all set to release his 11th album with his band Six Feet Under; a pretty big feat for something that started out as a side project. The ex-Cannibal Corpse growler teamed up with the lads from Cannabis Corpse for this one, and weird as it may seem, it works. I’ve listened to a good few Six Feet Under albums, and although this may not be the best of the lot, it definitely proves that there this is no stopping Barnes and co., even if it means numerous line-up changes. One may think that the constant sessions and live line-up changes may affect a band’s sound, but Barnes has made it work really well, especially this time around. Production-wise, it isn’t as good as it could sound and will take a few listens before it appeals to you, but nonetheless, ‘Crypt Of The Devil’ is a full-blown aural assault for sure; an album that you should just enjoy as a death metal fan.
Gearing up for the release, Metal Wani’s Editor In Chief Owais ‘Vitek’ Nabi had a chat with Six Feet Under founding member and vocalist Chris Barnes. He discusses new album “Crypt Of The Devil”, song-writing, working with Cannabis Corpse, his monstrous vocals, his passion for serial killer stories, death metal scene and much more.
