Looking for an unavoidable excuse to visit the treacherously charming City of Amsterdam? Something to do with metal mayhem and an all sorts of other musical debauchery… The second week of October presents exactly the right opportunity for all of the above to materialize at the third edition of Amsterdam Metalfest hosted by the much acclaimed venue Melkweg, smack-bang in the city Centre. Upping the ante with a line-up more savage than the previous sold-out edition, October 15th will feature national exclusivity, an Amsterdam world-premiere and a complete integral album set. Early Ghouls get their tickets for €20,-. After August 1st Lazy Demons pay €25,-. Curious?
The crowning closing act of the night is polyrhythmic sextet Textures (Nuclear Blast). This will also be the concluding show of the Phenotype tour cycle. Second to last on stage is the no-longer-entirely-Belgian death metal chorus Aborted with an integral complete Retrogore (Century Media) album set. Fourth on the bill is an exclusive Dutch debut for Humanity’s Last Breath. The man behind the sound is Swedish musical centipede (drummer, guitarist, bassist) Buster Odeholm. The latest EP, Detestor, was recorded in Odeholm’s own Impact Studios and independently released on April 5th, 2016.
Instrumental fusion metal assemblage Exivious is third on stage and consists of music masters Kruidenier, Zielhorst (both ex-Cynic), van Eekelen (ex-Pestilence) and Nienhuis (Dodecahedron). It’s been nigh on two years since these Shaolin-metal warriors played The Netherlands and Amsterdam Metalfest is honored to be their enablers for this occasion. Local death-thrash metal quartet Seita and tech metal outfit Hibakusha will be biting the proverbial head off the music-menu.

Textures, Aborted (Retrogore set), Humanity’s Last Breath (NL debut), Exivious (2016 NL exclusive), Seita and Hibakusha.
