Wovenwar released their debut album ‘Wovenwar’ in August 2014 to widespread critical acclaim and the album managed to reach No. 36 on the US Billboard charts. The band will release the follow up to their self titled debut on October 21st, entitled ‘Honor is Dead’ (Click Here To Read The Review). Wovenwar should be appreciated for their sheer balls to take chances and experiment with their sound instead of sticking to the same genre defining blueprint which they helped create a decade ago. Discussing about the new music, Metal Wani Editor In Chief Owais ‘Vitek Nabi had a chat with WOVENWAR bassist Josh Gilbert.
He discusses the upcoming new album “Honor Is Dead”, fan response to new song ‘Censorship’, how the album will take the metalheads on the fence to become Wovenwar fans, how the band realized what worked on the debut album and how to write songs based on that and fan expectations in mind since the self titled debut album divided the As I Lay Dying fans.
He also talks about why Wovenwar is meant to experiment with various musical genres which they couldn’t do with As I Lay Dying, writing songs inspired by alternative rock, avant-garde, Progressive and electronic elements, writing songs with 2 clear vocalists in the band and lyrical approach. He throws light on why As I lay Dying fans will like the new album, what makes Wovenwar a band which is much more than what As I Lay Dying could do, upcoming touring and much more.
