Six Feet Under is known for putting out a lot of music in a short space of time. Lately, there have been a few major lineup changes and you can immediately notice there is something different about this record. The way it bites, the grooves, all are still reminiscent of the older Six Feet Under sound, but ‘Torment’ has a more complex feel to it.
Metal Wani’s Editor In Chief Owais ‘Vitek’ Nabi had a chat with SIX FEET UNDER mastermind Chris Barnes. He discusses the upcoming record “Torment”, whether the band has reached the pinnacle of creativity with this record, fan response to the released music so far, how important is it for the band to not repeat what’s done on the previous records and songwriting with Jeff Hughell and Marco Pitruzzella.
He also talks about mixing brutality with slow parts on the album, writing a sequel to classic Cannibal Corpse song ‘Fucked With A Knife’ and his opinion on working with ‘one take’ drummer Marco Pitruzzella. He throws light on working with ‘the best producer, engineer’ Zeuss as compared to Mark Lewis in the past, in-your-face vocal style on this record, upcoming touring schedule and more.
