Very few albums that I hear begin with an introductory vocal so quickly after the music kicks in on the first track, but that’s exactly the case with “S.O.A.R” (Click Here To Read Our Review), the opening song on the new album by the American hard rock/nu-metal band Devour the Day. The world has only just begun to witness the power of Joey Chicago and his other half in Devour The Day, Blake Allison (lead vocals, guitar, songwriter, producer), though they got a pretty good glimpse at the group’s potential in the form of 2014’s Time & Pressure. With ‘S.O.A.R.’, one thing that leaps out as being particularly poignant from the get-go is the quality of the production, which is often a forgotten factor to an album’s quality and success.
Currently gearing up for the release of new album, Metal Wani’s Editor In Chief Owais ‘Vitek’ Nabi had a chat with Devour The Day songwriter Blake Allison. Blake discusses the songwriting approach, musical direction, lyrical approach & concept of the album. Blake also throws light on the emotional aspect of the band, inspiration behind the album & relationship with his band mate Joey Chicago. Find out more about the new album, tours below:
