Mephisto, or Mephistopheles, is one of the chief demons of German literary tradition. With this in mind, when we talk about‘The Mephisto Waltzes’ what we are actually talking about is dancing with a Devil of sorts, and what better way is there to describe any encounter with the works of Mr. Dani Filth and his band of ghouls. Devilment are excited as they gear up for the release of their second album, the follow up to 2014’s ‘The Great And Secret Show’, with ‘II The Mephisto Waltzes’ on November 18 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
Metal Wani’s Editor in Chief Owais ‘Vitek’ Nabi had a chat with DEVILMENT and CRADLE OF FILTH Frontman Dani Filth. He discusses the upcoming Devilment album “The Mephisto Waltzes”, why the band isn’t a side project, fan expectations after the lineup change, why the last record felt under the shadow of CoF and how this record has it’s own identity as compared to Cradle of Filth. He also throws light on writing heavier songs, maintaining the balance between heavier and softer songs with more clean vocals and keyboard sounds by Lauren Francis, writing lyrics for this record and how each song has its own story.
He also discusses the upcoming CRADLE Of FILTH record which has been completely written, recording starts in December and planning to release in September 2017. He also throws light on the conceptual side of the next CoF album which has a gothic, horror story, writing a long 8 to 9 minute proggy, haunting pieces, upcoming UK tour and plans to tour a lot till the Cradle Of Filth album release.
